Quitting Aids-University Health Services - Carnegie Mellon University

Quitting Aids Available to Students, Faculty, & Staff

University Health Services offers over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapies (NRT), including patches, gum and lozenges.  Students, faculty, and staff can purchase these over the counter NRT at University Health Services at a discounted cost.

Remember, NRT helps with the physical withdrawal from nicotine and should be used in combination with a cessation program to address both the physical and mental parts of addiction.  This approach - using NRT with a cessation program - has been shown to double a person's chances of quitting!

Other forms of NRT (nasal spray and inhalers), as well as non-nicotine medications, are also available to help with quitting.  These treatments are available by prescription.
