Hi everyone!  I'm originally from New Jersey, but I love Pittsburgh and everything it has to offer!  My favorite pastimes include experimenting with new recipes, cooking with friends, going to farmer's markets and specialty grocery stores, and playing board games.  I joined PHA because I wanted to encourage others on campus to be healthy in a fun and productive way.

My name is Konyin Adewumi and I am a sophomore Policy and Management major. I am from California so Pittsburgh is far from home for me. I'm currently working towards med school, my dream is to work for the World Health Organization. I became a PHA partly because the best way to learn something is to explain it to others; I hope to continue learning.

I'm from Potomac, Maryland by way of Oakland, California. I'm a double major in Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, and I try to take art classes whenever I can fit them into my schedule. I work in sculpture, installation, and performance-based art. If you have any questions or need any help with art or MatSci facilities, I either know the answer or know someone who does! I think being a PHA is a really fun and rewarding job. I'm personally most interested in the nutrition area of PHA.

I am a sophomore from New Jersey and this is my first year as a PHA.  I am also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and SWSG and I love to draw and paint in my free time, when I have any.  I am also a pre-med student, and I am excited to be advertising healthy habits on campus as well as giving students advice.  I am especially interested in nutrition and hope to participate in and lead future PHA events on the matter.

I’ve always been driven to try new things in life. I was born in Taiwan. I travelled around Europe with my family when I was younger. When I was 12, I moved to Baltimore, Maryland. When I came to CMU, I lived the life of a typical college student: working until 3 in the morning on weekdays, parties every weekend, and road trips to other universities on breaks. After freshman year I decided to explore an alternate way of living my college years. I joined CMU PHA to learn about a healthy living and promote it to my peers.

I am originally from Miami, FL. I joined the PHAs Fall 2010 and have enjoyed promoting good student health ever since. I am specifically interested in women’s health and alternative menstrual products (there’s more than just the main-stream!). I hope to both learn and teach others through the PHA program. Personal favorite: Drawing.

Hello! I'm from the Maryland-D.C. area. I love chocolate, reading, hanging
out, and watching funny Youtube videos. My favorite thing about being a
PHA is meeting new people and discussing facts and common misconceptions
about health issues. I hope to meet you soon!

I am involved in several clubs on campus: I am the social outreach chair for Engineers Without Borders, the treasurer of ALLIES, I am part of the Undergraduate Investment Club and Financial Frontline Society. I enjoy learning about health and medicine, and have seen many different aspects of it, from lab research to volunteering at a hospital. I am also a certified EMT-Basic in the state of Pennsylvania.

I am a senior majoring in Decision science and Ethics, history, & public policy. I am originally from the Rochester, NY area. In my free time I enjoy dancing, participating in my sorority, and keeping up with political news. This is my second year as a PHA, and Free Condom Friday is one of my favorite PHA programs!

Patricia Thang

Hello, my name is Patricia and I'm a Biological Sciences major here at CMU. This is my first year as a PHA, and I'm excited to become involved in everything that this organization does! I am also a sister of Delta Delta Delta sorority and an active member of the Biology Student Advisory Council.

I love meeting new people and new ideas, I love the rush of racing down Forbes on my bike, and love horrible puns.  What inspires me about medicine is that I want people to have every opportunity without being limited by health.  This is why I work toward better health abroad with Global Medical Brigades and why I am a Peer Health Advocate.
