Health Promotion Intern, Senior Biological Sciences & Psychology major, and research assistant at the Health Performance Lab

Hi!  This is my second year as a PHA!  I love running outdoors and participating in the Pittsburgh Great Race.  I also love eating ice cream and desserts! My favorite things about being a PHA are being a part of Meatless Mondays and the Health & Benefits Fair.  One of the many things I have learned in college is to have a healthy body and mind.  PHA has so much to offer!

I love being a PHA! My hometown is Pittsburgh and I love this city - ask me anything about it! Here at CMU, I am a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and love Greek life. I do research in the renal division at UPMC. I also volunteer at the Children's Institute in Squirrel Hill. My favorite thing about being a PHA is getting to hold events in the community like Free Condom Friday, Meatless Mondays, and the HelpYourself fair. I also love talking to my peers about relevant health issues.

I'm from suburban Montgomery County, Maryland, and Pittsburgh is a welcome change of pace. I'm pursuing a career in materials and biomedical engineering. I'm a performance artist, and I try to push the boundaries of peoples' thought. I also have a lot of fun finding new vegetarian recipes to try. I'm excited to learn and share my knowledge about being healthy on campus and in life!

I’ve always been driven to try new things in life. I was born in Taiwan. I travelled around Europe with my family when I was younger. When I was 12, I moved to Baltimore, Maryland. When I came to CMU, I lived the life of a typical college student: working until 3 in the morning on weekdays, parties every weekend, and road trips to other universities on breaks. After freshman year I decided to explore an alternate way of living my college years. I joined CMU PHA to learn about a healthy living and promote it to my peers.

I am originally from Miami, FL. I joined the PHA’s Fall 2010 and have enjoyed promoting good student health ever since. I am specifically interested in women’s health and alternative menstrual products (there’s more than just the main-stream!). I hope to both learn and teach others through the PHA program. Personal favorite: Drawing.

Peer Health Advocate, Senior Psychology & Statistics major, & research assistant in the Relationships Lab for the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon

I became a PHA last year because I wanted to be more informed about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and then be able to share that information with my peers on campus. I love that our programs touch on health topics related to the lifestyles of college students. I discovered in college just how important and valuable it is to have a healthy mind and a healthy body. I look forward to meeting new faces at our PHA events!

Hello! I'm from the Maryland-D.C. area. I love chocolate, reading, hanging
out, and watching funny Youtube videos. My favorite thing about being a
PHA is meeting new people and discussing facts and common misconceptions
about health issues. I hope to meet you soon!

I am involved in several clubs on campus: I am the social outreach chair for Engineers Without Borders, the treasurer of ALLIES, I am part of the Undergraduate Investment Club and Financial Frontline Society. I enjoy learning about health and medicine, and have seen many different aspects of it, from lab research to volunteering at a hospital. I am also a certified EMT-Basic in the state of Pennsylvania.

I'm from New Jersey, but I love Pittsburgh and everything it has to offer!  My favorite pastimes include curling up to a good movie on a rainy day and experimenting with new recipes I see from watching the food network.  I joined PHA because I wanted to encourage others on campus to be healthy in a fun and productive way.
