Lead Peer Health AdvocateHi, I'm Holly. I'm a senior in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Professional and Technical Writing. I love being a PHA because our programs and events foster meaningful, interesting, and often funny discussion with students. I love constantly learning new things and being able to share what I learn with my peers. I spend a lot of my free time reading and attempting to engage people in conversation in French or Spanish. Feel free to reach out to me as a PHA, I love meeting new people!
Peer Health AdvocateHello! My name is Jade Schiffer, and I joined PHAs because I wanted to learn more about what it means to be healthy and how college students can realistically aim to achieve healthiness, despite our busy schedules. What I love most about being a PHA is that I think my job helps people to be more open about discussing health issues without fear of judgement. Please feel free to come up to me on campus if you would like to talk more about health and wellness!
Peer Health AdvocateMy name is Kennix Lee and I am a second-year PHA. I am a junior majoring in Psychology and Biological Sciences. In the future, I intend to go to medical school. I’m passionate about health and wellness because I realize that vitality is a luxury. Not everyone has the fortune of waking up everyday feeling well and energized. Therefore, I want to promote steps that my fellow students can follow in order to put their best foot forward and feel the best version of themselves that they can be. I became a PHA because I believe the best way to learn is to teach.
Peer Health AdvocateMy name is LeShaun Jones, and this is my second year as a Peer Health Advocate! I’m currently a junior Statistics and Psychology double major, and I am truly passionate about mental health, wellness, and helping people foster a better quality of life. As a PHA, one of my main goals has been to help people learn how to be the best version of themselves. I hope to continue explaining tangible ways for my peers to do so.
Peer Health AdvocateMy name is Kevin Long, and I am from a small town in central Pennsylvania called Mount Union. I am doing a dual degree in chemistry and psychology with the hopes of going to medical school to become a doctor. My dream is to someday open an orphanage where I can provide medical assistance and promote public health and wellness to children. I think being a PHA gives me valuable time and opportunities to learn how to promote wellness and a better quality of health so that I can share this knowledge with my peers now and others in the future.
Peer Health AdvocateHey everyone! My name is Dhruva Krishna. Even though I joined the PHA this year, I'm already looking forward to being part of a team that helps promote well- being and staying healthy at CMU! Outside of PHA, I am a sophomore studying Creative Writing and Ethics, History, and Public Policy. I love to play and listen to all kinds of music both on and off campus!
Peer Health Advocate / SecretaryHey! I’m Gaurav and I’m a sophomore engineer from Mountain View, California. I’m studying Materials Science & Biomedical Engineering, still chasing that pre-med dream. Even though I’m a brand-new PHA, I’m excited to be a part of this year’s team and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do. Outside of PHA, I am an active brother of Sigma Chi and a research assistant in the BME department.
Peer Health AdvocateHi! My name is Zeesh Rizvi and I am very excited for my first year as a PHA!!. I am a sophomore business major all the way from Karachi, Pakistan. Where I'm from, and in many other Eastern countries, health and wellness is an often neglected topic of discussion. One of my main goals as a PHA is to try and foster discussion about import health issues among my international friends. Feel free to contact me if you ever want to talk about health related topics or even if you just want to talk!
Peer Health AdvocateHello! I'm Mariah Barnes from sunny SoCal and I am a Sophomore majoring in Decision Science with a Healthcare Management and Policy minor. This is my first year being a member of the PHA team and I could not be more excited. As a PHA, my goal this year is to serve as a mentor and role model to students on campus. Physical, mental and emotional related issues can appear in a variety of different ways and I want my peers to feel comfortable coming to me and asking questions. Outside of PHA I love to travel, cook, play tennis and basketball, and binge watch Netflix. Feel free to come to me for a chat!
Hi, my name is Mari-Therese Burton, and I’m a freshman Materials Science and Engineering major from Maryland. On campus, I am also a member of CMU Emergency Medical Services, and I have been a volunteer EMT in Maryland for the past 2 years, so health and public safety are very important to me. My favorite part of being a PHA is that through discussion and education, we help foster a community of well-being and support on campus. My favorite ways to de-stress are hiking, baking, and cuddling with my cats.
Hi! My name is Katherine Diaz and I'm from Arlington, VA. I am a freshman in CIT planning on double majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy.
