Konyin Adewumi

Konyin Adewumi

Peer Health Advocate

My name is Konyin Adewumi and I am a senior Policy and Management major. I am from California so Pittsburgh is far from home for me. I'm currently working towards med school, my dream is to work for the World Health Organization. I became a PHA partly because the best way to learn something is to explain it to others; I hope to continue learning.

Megan Steinmetz

Megan Steinmetz

Peer Health Advocate

My name is Megan Steinmetz and I am a senior majoring in Policy & Management. I am also pursuing a Masters in Health Care Policy and Management at Heinz. My main goal as a Peer Health Advocate is to help the campus community open up a dialogue about important health-related issues. I am specifically interested in sexual health and other women's health issues. Feel free to talk to me or any of the other PHAs if you have any questions about what we do, or what it means to have be a healthier CMU.

Holly Stein

Peer Health Advocate

Hey! I'm proudly from Minneapolis, MN where I love to bike as many places as I can. Here in Pittsburgh, I spend more time playing frisbee, cooking, and speaking Spanish and French with anyone who will talk to me. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and am considering biomedical engineering. I would love to use what I learn during my time at CMU, including my time as a PHA, to promote a better quality of life for people everywhere.

Philip Dominici

Philip Dominici

Peer Health Advocate

I am a current sophomore planning on studying Statistics and Biology. I am from Westford, MA originally but have been visiting Pittsburgh for most of my life.  I have long played saxophone and currently play in the Kiltie Band here at CMU, but love trying new things.  I am new to being a PHA but not to teaching and helping others - something I greatly enjoy.  Something I hope to do in the future is work in Southern Europe.

Sangeetha Sankaran

Sangeetha Sankaran

Peer Health Advocate

Growing up the daughter of a doctor, I have long been passionate about health and wellness. While I'm a sophomore pursuing mathematical sciences with no intentions of going to medical school, I still want to do my part to promote healthy practices across campus.  Also, being a PHA means I need to talk the talk and walk the walk. It reminds me of my commitment to pursuing a good quality of life.

Jade Schiffer

Jade Schiffer

Peer Health Advocate

My name is Jade Schiffer, and I am from New York.  Although this is my first year as a Peer Health Advocate, I am excited to work on events and discuss facts and common misconceptions about health with new people.  Since I have found the areas surrounding health to be complicated and sometimes very confusing, I look forward to continue to try to make health information more accessible to my peers.

Kennix Lee

Kennix Lee

Peer Health Advocate

My name is Kennix Lee and I am a sophomore majoring in Psychology and Biological Sciences. In the future, I intend to go to medical school and specialize in oncology. I’m passionate about health and wellness because I realize that vitality is a luxury. Not everyone has the fortune of waking up everyday feeling well and energized. Therefore, I want to help advocate steps that my fellow students can follow in order to put their best foot forward and feel the best version of themselves that they can be.

LeShaun Jones

LeShaun Jones

Peer Health Advocate

My name is LeShaun Jones, and I am excited to see where my first year of being a peer health advocate will take me. I’m currently a sophomore Statistics and Psychology double major, and I am truly passionate about mental health, wellness, and helping people foster a better quality of life. I hope that as a PHA I can explain to people tangible ways to help themselves.

Angela Ng

Angela Ng

Peer Health Advocate

I'm from Detroit, Michigan, and I am a Junior Civil and Environmental Engineering Major with a double in Biomedical Engineering. I received two Enhancing Campus Culture grants in the Spring of 2013, to create a happiness club on campus called Project Smile, and a stress-free relaxation room called the Mindfulness Room. I became a PHA because promoting healthy living on campus became my passion, I wanted the work I did on campus to continue after my graduation, and I wanted to be apart of a group of people that believed in the same healthy campus living.

Jennifer Francis

Jennifer Francis

Peer Health Advocate

Jennifer Francis is a senior psychology major. This is her third year as a Peer Health Advocate. She is especially interested in women's health as well as stress management which is why she joined PHA back in her sophomore year. Though she started out as pre-med, she is now changed tracks to pursue marketing research after she graduates. She is confident that the presentation skills she has learned at PHA will continue to help her in her career.

Kevin Long

Kevin Long

Peer Health Advocate

My name is Kevin Long, and I am from a small town in central Pennsylvania called Mount Union.  I am doing a dual degree in chemistry and psychology with the hopes of going to medical school to become a doctor.  My dream is to someday open an orphanage where I can provide medical assistance and promote public health and wellness to children.  I think being a PHA gives me valuable time and opportunities to learn how to promote wellness and a better quality of health so that I can share this knowledge with my peers now and others in the future.

Dhruva Krishna

Hey everyone! My name is Dhruva Krishna. Even though I joined the PHA this year, I'm already looking forward to being part of a team that helps promote well- being and staying healthy at CMU! Outside of PHA, I am a sophomore studying Creative Writing and Ethics, History, and Public Policy. I love to play and listen to all kinds of music both on and off campus!
