Lead Peer Health AdvocateI joined the PHAs Fall 2010 and have enjoyed promoting healthy living ever since. I am specifically interested in women’s health and alternative mentsual products. I hope to learn and teach others through the PHA program and to develop a PHA Woman's Health program before I graduate.
Peer Health AdvocateMy name is Konyin Adewumi and I am a sophomore Policy and Management major. I am from California so Pittsburgh is far from home for me. I'm currently working towards med school, my dream is to work for the World Health Organization. I became a PHA partly because the best way to learn something is to explain it to others; I hope to continue learning.
Peer Health AdvocateI'm from Potomac, Maryland by way of Oakland, California. I'm a double major in Materials Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, and I try to take art classes whenever I can fit them into my schedule. I work in sculpture, installation, and performance-based art. If you have any questions or need any help with art or MatSci facilities, I either know the answer or know someone who does! I think being a PHA is a really fun and rewarding job. I'm personally most interested in the nutrition area of PHA.
Peer Health AdvocateI am a junior from New Jersey and this is my second year as a PHA. I am also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and a mentor in Strong Women Strong Girls. Additionally, I am in JUNTOS, which is a organization that travels to Nicaragua over Spring Break for various service activities. I am very interested in education, which is why I joined PHA- to educate the student body on health issues and correct common misconceptions about health.
Peer Health AdvocateI’ve always been driven to try new things in life. I was born in Taiwan. I travelled around Europe with my family when I was younger. When I was 12, I moved to Baltimore, Maryland. When I came to CMU, I lived the life of a typical college student: working until 3 in the morning on weekdays, parties every weekend, and road trips to other universities on breaks. After freshman year I decided to explore an alternate way of living my college years. I joined CMU PHA to learn about a healthy living and promote it to my peers.

Peer Health AdvocateHello! I'm from the Maryland-D.C. area. I love chocolate, reading, hanging out, and watching funny Youtube videos. My favorite thing about being a PHA is meeting new people and discussing facts and common misconceptions about health issues. I hope to meet you soon!
Peer Health AdvocateI am involved in several clubs on campus: I am the social outreach chair for Engineers Without Borders, the treasurer of ALLIES, I am part of the Undergraduate Investment Club and Financial Frontline Society. I enjoy learning about health and medicine, and have seen many different aspects of it, from lab research to volunteering at a hospital. I am also a certified EMT-Basic in the state of Pennsylvania.
Peer Health AdvocateI am originally from Los Angeles, CA and came to CMU to study biology. In addition to school, I'm an active member of Greek life and also work teaching after-school science programs at public schools in the area. I have been a PHA since Fall 2012 and I have had a great experience educating my peers and promoting health awareness on campus.
Peer Health AdvocateI love meeting new people and new ideas, I love the rush of racing down Forbes on my bike, and love horrible puns. What inspires me about medicine is that I want people to have every opportunity without being limited by health. This is why I work toward better health abroad with Global Medical Brigades and why I am a Peer Health Advocate.
Peer Health AdvocateMy name is Megan Steinmetz, and I am a junior majoring in Policy and Management and Decision Science. I am very excited to start my first year as a Peer Health Advocate! I am specifically interested in sexual health and women’s health issues on campus. I became a Peer Health Advocate in hopes of promoting healthier lifestyles, while creating a forum where students feel comfortable discussing issues related to their health. I am also involved in Greek Life on campus, and in Strong Women Strong Girls.
Peer Health AdvocateHey! I'm proudly from Minneapolis, MN where I love to bike as many places as I can. Here in Pittsburgh, I spend more time playing frisbee, cooking, and speaking Spanish and French with anyone who will talk to me. I am majoring in mechanical engineering and am considering biomedical engineering. I would love to use what I learn during my time at CMU, including my time as a PHA, to promote a better quality of life for people everywhere.
Peer Health AdvocateI am a current freshman planning on studying Statistics and Biology. I am from Westford, MA originally but have been visiting Pittsburgh for most of my life. I have long played saxophone and currently play in the Kiltie Band here at CMU, but love trying new things. I am new to being a PHA but not to teaching and helping others - something I greatly enjoy. Something I hope to do in the future is work in Southern Europe.
