Film Screening, "America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments"

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2013: Everybody Knows Somebody

In honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (February 24 - March 2), University Health Services' Peer Health Advocates, PanHellenic Association and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will host a screening of, "America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments".  The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion about our campus culture, eating disorders, and resources for health.

In this film, documentary provocateur Darryl Roberts looks at the American beauty industry, examining how the national obsession with weight loss has negatively affected our perception of what really constitutes a healthy weight. This movie explores the beliefs and attitudes both men and women share about body weight and beauty in an honest and entertaining way.  Stay with us after the screening for an engaging panel discussion about our campus culture and resources.

Join us to open up a dialogue about the negative effects of food and weight obsessions and to show your support for this important initiative.  All students, faculty, and staff, as well as friends and family are welcome, because Everybody Knows Somebody who could use a little support.
