Prospective Students-Graduate Education - Carnegie Mellon University

Dear Prospective Graduate Student,

Carnegie Mellon University is a global research university with a proud heritage of outstanding graduate and undergraduate education and research. Our vision is that Carnegie Mellon will meet the changing needs of society by building on its traditions of innovation, problem solving and interdisciplinarity. From the arts to technology and humanities and the sciences we reach across boundaries to bring together bright minds to move us forward locally, nationally and globally with creative solutions to worldwide challenges.

Carnegie Mellon is home to excellent faculty and students in our seven schools and colleges: Carnegie Institute of Technology, College of Fine Arts, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Heinz College, Mellon College of Science, School of Computer Science and the Tepper School of Business and over 100 research centers around the globe.

Because of our interdisciplinary nature, it is sometimes difficult for prospective graduate students to identify the Carnegie Mellon graduate program that would be appropriate for them. In addition to searching for programs through the departmental websites we have several guides which may facilitate your exploration of the degrees and programs offered.

Each program has its own admissions process, including deadlines and requirements, and makes its own arrangements regarding financial support of potential graduate students so please communicate directly with the relevant department regarding admissions.

Please browse our website for more information on Carnegie Mellon's admissions, academics and graduate student programs and services. Since your personal experience and growth are a valuable part of your education at Carnegie Mellon, we invite you to find out about student life including organizations such as the Graduate Student Assembly and opportunities for professional development and creating communities. Discover the benefits Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas have to offer as one of the most livable cities in the United States.
