The Carnegie Mellon University departments and services that support graduate student safety and wellness include:

Emergency Response & Notification

University Police Department
Located at 300 South Craigh Street, Room 199. Provides 24-hour campus patrol as well as crime prevention, registration of valuables and shuttle and escort services.

Emergency Medical Services
is an all-volunteer student-run quick response service. Calling 412-268-2323 dispatches CMU Campus Police and Emergency Medical Service, who are able to arrive on scene within minutes. Their website describes when to call.  In an emergency call 412-268-2323.

CMU-Alert Emergency Notification
service sends voice and/or text messages to registered phones in the event of a campus emergency. All members of the Carnegie Mellon community are encouraged to register for the CMU-Alert Emergency Notification service.

RAVE Guardian App
the companion app to CMU-Alert, CMU's emergency notification service.  With direct connections to helpful safety resources, family, friends and others you trust, you can feel safe any time. This free app will push CMU-Alert notifications and provide a direct connection to University Police. It also includes a safety timer and links to helpful campus safety resources

University Police and Late Night Escort

The Escort Service
The Escort service operates from 6:30pm to 6:30am in the geographical areas of Oakland, Shadyside, and Squirrel Hill. (zones listed below).  Beginning at 6:30pm daily, and every half hour (30 minutes) through 6:30am, you are able to use the escort service by waiting at the designated pick-up locations.

Sexual Misconduct and Relationship Violence

Office of Title IX Initiatives (TIX)

offers professional staff trained to provide support, information, resources, and referrals to all community members  impacted by sexual misconduct, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.

Crisis Support

Counseling and Pyschological Services (CaPS) 
provides urgent crisis intervention and emergency consultation to the CMU community. For emergency crisis support 24/7, call 412-268-2922.  Addresses the mental health needs of the CMU community through a variety of services, including individual therapy, referrals, psychiatric medication management, and crisis support. All counseling center services are provided at no cost.

Misc. Resources

Wellness Resources
are provided by Student Health Services. These include wellness programs, nutritional education, alcohol/other drug assessment and referral, quit smoking support, and stress management consultation.

Campus Wellness
wide variety of resources, opportunities, and people that want to help you thrive inside and outside of the classroom.

Athletic Resources 
at CMU include CUC Fitness center, Wiegand gym, Skibo gym, Tepper Fitness center, sport courts, lap and dive pools, weight rooms, cardio rooms, tennis courts, and Gesling Staduim track.

Fitness Activities include Group X-ercise Fitness Classes and intermural sports
