Continued Reflection and Assessment-Global Education - Carnegie Mellon University

Continued Reflection and Assessment

The faculty teaching the global courses forms a Global Faculty Group (GFG) who meet every semester to report on the course progress and reflect on lessons learned and exchange ideas.

Assessment is an inherent part of the courses, and includes class evaluations, student blogs and journals or the AACU Shared Futures Assessment tools. Reflection, idea exchange and continuous improvement are also features of other global activities such as the international festival and global studies house.

The real clients of student projects assess the usefulness of the projects in Technology Consulting in the Community, and the instructor uses these to refine the course. Working with an assessment expert we have been articulating the features of "educating for global awareness" in terms of the competencies students develop ranging from cultural to professional arenas.
