Green Design Institute Educational Initiatives
The Green Design Institute includes environmental education efforts targeting the high school, undergraduate, graduate, and life-long learning levels.
A main part of GDI's education and outreach activity is the Economic Input-Output Life Cycle Assessment tool. The EIO-LCA tool is available on-line for educational and professional use and has been used extensively in university classes at Carnegie Mellon, around the U.S. and abroad.
We offer the Green Design Apprenticeship for high school students through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU). This program introduces high school students to "green" engineering principles and research.
Undergraduate and graduate students at CMU are offered elective courses that provide a deeper understanding of scientific, engineering, economic, social, and policy issues relating to the environment.
We provide education and workshops on life cycle assessment and current research themes for executives. Contact the Executive Director for more information about upcoming educational events.
