Herbert A. Simon Professor of Economics and Psychology
A trained econonomist, George Loewenstein studies the border between economics and psychology.
Loewenstein's research addresses:
- Consumer decision-making — why do consumers buy what they buy and how might the economy affect their decisions
- Privacy issues — the more a person is reassured about privacy, the more they are concerned
- Behavioral economics — the "hot-cold empathy gap" explaining why someone who is angry has difficulty understanding happiness and vice versa
