A crusader for green chemistry, Terry Collins is a world-renowned advocate for the creation of environmentally friendly and less toxic chemicals.

Collins's areas of expertise include:

  • Ethics and policy — speaking around the world calling for the greater use of green chemistry to achieve a sustainable society
  • Research— developing a new class of oxidation catalysts that can be used to create cleaner chemical processes and to remove dangerous chemicals from water and soil
  • Education— teaching one of the first college courses on green chemistry in 1992 at Carnegie Mellon and continuing to innovate curriculum, including the development of an online resource for green chemistry educators
