- Alfa Fellowship Program
Work for 1 year in Russia to help develop understanding of Russia today. Open to students with a graduate degree in business, economics, journalism, law, public policy, or government. Program runs from March 2007-April 2008. At least beginning Russian language skills required. U.S. citizenship required.
- Eric Breindel College and University Journalism Award
Journalism award in which winner receives $10,000 in cash and a paid internship at either Fox News or the New York Post. Applicant must be an undergraduate student and submit several pieces of work reflecting the nationalist ideals of American democracy. If interested, call (412)268-1969.
- Dow Jones Newspaper Fund - College Students - Internships
$1,000 and a ten-week business reporting internship at $350/week. Open to minority juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have not worked professionally in copy editing.
- Chronicle of Higher Education Editorial Internships
Full-time internships in Washington, D.C. from January to May 2009. Interns receive a $500 weekly stipend and academic credit. Experience writing for publication, either at a student newspaper or a professional publication, is required. Candidates with previous internships and deadline-reporting experience are preferred.
- The J.D. Edsal Advertising Scholarship
$1,500 one-time scholarship to benefit Rhode Island residents studying advertising with the expectation of pursuing a career in one or more of these fields. Applicants must be college undergraduates, sophomore or above.
- Knight International Press Fellowships
Fellows are asked to attend a week-long orientation in Washington. Orientation may take place in the designated country. During the Fellowship, each Fellow receives an allowance for transportation, professional and living expenses and an honorarium. Fellows also have access to a Grants Fund. Approved grants cover the costs of special projects that benefit the program. Knight International Fellows work with partner organizations on media-development projects designed to produce lasting, tangible change in the public interest.
- UNESCO - Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship
$2,500 to U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students between the ages of 18 to 25 and are eligible for travel. Students propose an international project which will be funded by the fellowship, fulfilling the mandate for UNESCO, promoting education, natural science, social and human sciences, culture and/or communication and information.
- NCAA Sports Journalism Scholarship Program
Supports eight $3,000 scholarships to college juniors who have career goals in sports journalism and major in journalism or have experience in campus sports journalism.
- The Overseas Press Club of America
Every year offers $2,000 scholarships to 12 talented student winners of a national essay competition. A scholarship program for undergraduate and graduate students in American colleges and universities, who aspire to become foreign correspondents.
- Pittsburgh Advertising Federation Scholarship Fund (Pittsburgh Foundation)
Two scholarships of about $3,750, to inspire and reward outstanding candidates who have demonstrated potential success in the field and to bring cultural diversity to the Pittsburgh advertising industry. For those who reside in Southwestern Pennsylvania and attend (junior or senior level) one of the approved Pennsylvania higher education institutions.
