Award
Winners receive up to $30,000 for 2-3 years of graduate study.
Funding is for graduate or professional schools in the United States or foreign countries.

Eligibility
Must be a junior interested in a career in the public sector.
Students in a five-year program may apply in their third or fourth year.
U.S. citizenship required.

Campus Procedure and Timeline
Students must apply through FSO by the campus deadlines. Carnegie Mellon nominates up to four students through an internal competition that includes completing the online Truman application, policy proposal, recommendations and an interview.
May-June
Register with FSO if interested in applying
June-July
Submit:1) application draft, 2) policy proposal draft, 3) names of people writing recommendation letters
August
Start online application
September
1) Ask and meet with people writing recommendation letters
2) Submit new drafts of application and policy proposal to FSO
3) Share proposal draft with faculty for input
October
Revisions of application and proposal for campus deadline
November 3
1) All application materials including recommendations DUE to FSO
2) Interview for campus nomination (later in Nov)
December-January
Final revisions
