Beinecke Memorial Scholarship Program
Carnegie Mellon may nominate one junior who is planning to attend graduate school in humanities, social sciences or Arts. Winners receive $2,000 upon entering graduate school and up to $30,000 while attending.

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellowship Program
For graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year who have not yet begun graduate studies. Non-U.S. citizens attending universities in the United States are eligible. Positions are paid, full-time positions for one year beginning August 1. Fellows receive $2,750/month and a full benefits package.

Winston Churchill Foundation Scholarships
For graduate work in engineering, mathematics and science at Churchill College, Cambridge University. Must be a U.S. citizen. Award covers all Cambridge University fees & tuition, plus a living allowance and travel expenses, with a total value between $48,000 and $50,000.

Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Fellowship Program
Carnegie Mellon may nominate 2 students. Must be a senior or have graduated in the last five years. Non-U.S. citizens ARE eligible. Any discipline. May use this scholarship at an approved institution abroad or in the U.S. Winners receive a maximum of $50,000/year for a maximum of 6 years of study.

Department of Defense Fellowship Programs: NDSEG - National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program
For study and research leading to doctoral degrees in engineering, math, and sciences. Award covers full tuition and fees, plus a stipend for 12-month tenures: 1st year- $30,500; 2nd year- $31,000; 3rd year- $31,500.

Department of Homeland Security Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Undergraduate scholarships are for sophomores majoring in the physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, life sciences, social sciences, psychology, or engineering with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.30 or higher. Must be a U.S. citizen. Winners receive $1,000/month for 9 months during the academic year and $5,000 for the 10-week summer internship, for the duration of two years.

Department of Homeland Security Graduate Fellowship Program
Graduate fellowships are for students pursuing a doctoral or master’s degree with a thesis requirement in the physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, life sciences, social sciences, psychology, or engineering. Graduating college seniors are eligible. Applicants must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA and cumulative graduate GPA (if enrolled) of 3.30 or higher. Must be a U.S. citizen. Fellows receive $2,300/month for 12 months and full tuition and all non refundable fees paid. Appointments are for up to 3 years. A 10-week, off campus internship at DHS or a DHS-affiliated facility is required during the summer between fellows’ first and second year appointments.

Freeman - ASIA Study Abroad
$3,000-$7,000 for undergraduate students to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia during the Spring, Summer, or Fall semester.  Freeman-ASIA is designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning on studying overseas in East or Southeast Asia.  Freeman-ASIA Award recipients are expected to share their experiences with their home campuses to encourage study abroad in Asia by others, and to spread greater understanding of Asian peoples and cultures within their home communities.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Up to $5,000 to students in any field who have already been accepted to a study abroad program.  $3000 Critical Need Language Supplements are available for students studying a critical need language for a total possible award of $8000.  A list of eligible languages can be found on the Gilman website.  Students must receive a Federal Pell Grant to be eligible. U.S. citizenship required.

Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Scholarships
For seniors or current grad students pursuing a Ph.D. degree in applications of the physical sciences (also for grad students enrolled in a Ph.D. program). Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Award covers full tuition plus a $28,000/9-months stipend, renewable up to 5 years.

Humanity in Action
For sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates (May 2006 or later) in all fields of study interested in study in Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, or the United States. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible. HIA will cover travel and accommodations expenses related to the HIA educational program.

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program
Seniors, alumni, or first year graduate students in selected fields of study of the arts, humanities and social sciences. U.S citizens or nationals, permanent residents, or citizens of any of the freely Associated States. Winners receive tuition and stipend with a total value of up to $30,000 to work towards a PhD or Master's degree (if Master's is highest degree offered in the field).

The George J. Mitchell Scholarships
Seniors, alumni, and graduate students no older than 30 to study in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Award covers tuition, housing, a $12,000 living expenses stipend, and international travel.
No campus deadline, but the Mitchell Scholarship Committee expects applicants to work with the university advisors for support and advice in preparing the application.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships Program
For seniors and graduate students, the Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are in the early stages of their graduate study. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) invests in graduate education for a cadre of diverse individuals who demonstrate their potential to successfully complete graduate degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of the National Science Foundation.

Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Defense Education Program
The SMART Defense Education Program is a scholarship/fellowship for service program in which academically excellent students pursuing degrees in disciplines of particular interest to the Department of Defense receive funding for full tuition, related educational fees, and living expenses and are then placed in civilian laboratory positions upon graduation.

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
For graduate study in the United States. Any field. Seniors and students already pursuing graduate study (if not past second year) are eligible (a "new American" has applied for naturalization, has been naturalized as a U.S. citizen, or is the child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens). Award covers 1/2 university tuition plus a $20,000/year grant.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation
Must be a junior interested in a career in the public sector. Funding is for graduate or professional schools in the United States or foreign countries. Winners receive up to $30,000 for 2-3 years of graduate study.

The Morris K. Udall Foundation :
1) Undergraduate Scholarships - Sophomores and juniors are eligible (including those in the 4th year of a 5th year track) from a variety of fields related to the environment, including natural and social sciences, as well as fields related to health care or tribal policy for Native American and Alaska Native applicants. Winners receive up to $5,000.

Native American Congressional Internships- for Native American junior, senior, graduate student, law student, or graduating from a tribal college (applications from freshmen and sophomore students will be considered on a case-by-case basis). Ten week internship in congressional offices, the White House, and federal agencies.

3) Ph.D. Dissertation Fellowships

Each year the Foundation awards two Ph.D. dissertation fellowships of $24,000 to students whose work is in the areas of environmental public policy or environmental conflict resolution. Recipients must be in the final, writing year of their Ph.D. work and must submit a copy of their dissertation to the Udall Foundation at the end of the award year.

USAToday All-USA College Academic Team
For undergraduates of at least junior standing in all disciplines. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible. Winners receive $2,500 in cash. Applicants must be nominated by someone (but not necessarily the university); the nomination is simply a third letter of recommendation that "officially" nominates you.
