As Director, Don Coffelt is accountable for meeting the needs of the university both through Facilities Operations’ direct services to FMS customers and by its support of FMS’s renovation and new construction groups.

He directs planning, coordination, and management of an approximately $17 million multi-functional program of routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance and operating services for university facilities and their occupants.

Martin Altschul provides long range strategic planning for building and utility systems
on a campus-wide basis. He manages the capital renewal plan for university buildings and infrastructure, and oversees commissioning for new construction and renovations. Martin assesses needs regarding building automation systems, utility usage, energy conservation and develops coherent strategies and spending plan to meet all of these needs for existing facilities and infrastructure.

Martin coordinates information technology support for the department, including the enterprise Maximo service and work system, the labor time-keeping system and all building information systems.

Provide direction and oversight over commissioning efforts for construction and renovation projects. Facilitate in conjunction with the University Architect
In conjunction with the University Architect maintain university design guidelines and ensure that design standards reflect current technology and university objectives and explore initiatives to improve maintenance effectiveness and system reliability
