Budget Forum
The BARF Budget Subcommittee sponsored a day-long forum on April 26, 2010 that focused on the systems, data, and tools that are used in creating budgets. The objectives of the day were:
- To provide a venue in order to gather the input of those responsible for budget creation across campus, from both academic and administrative units
- To identify the tools and processes that can be considered best practices used by participants across campus
- To demonstrate how all individuals can work together to make the budget process more understandable and streamlined
- To determine what participants believe could be done to improve the budget process
Forum participants were identified by their ALG members. Representatives from Advancement, Computing Services, Financial Systems, H&SS, and Human Resources gave presentations that were meant to provide the forum participants with ‘Did You Know’ pieces of information covering functionality of systems, uses of system data, and quick tips/techniques related to the tools reviewed. The day consisted of large and small group discussions facilitated by members of the subcommittee and campus leaders.
