Changes coming to S3 Admin Console regarding registration
As part of the S3 initiative of having an adaptable and contemporary student services suite, new registration features are being released to the Carnegie Mellon community (all locations, all campuses) in March 2012 via the S3 Admin Console and Student Information Online (SIO) services.
Starting in March 2012, all academic units will use the S3 Admin Console for registration, add/drop, waitlist management, and course reservation activity. At the time these features go live, the corresponding SIS screens will be retired. To prepare academic units and advisors for the new process and tools, a comprehensive communication plan includes a Town Hall Meeting (March 7, 11 a.m. to 12 noon, UC/McConomy), detailed e-mails, S3 Release Updates posted to the Enrollment Services website, hands-on learning sessions in Pittsburgh clusters and targeted presentations to other locations and campuses, and a “how to” guide. The “feedback” buttons within the S3 Admin Console go directly to Enrollment Services staff who are qualified to respond quickly or redirect the inquiry as appropriate.
Carnegie Mellon students will use SIO Registration for all Summer and Fall 2012 registration activities. When the new SIO features go live, the current Online Registration (OLR) service will be deactivated. Leading up to the change, students will receive targeted e-mails from Enrollment Services; in addition, SIO will deliver helpful tips and The HUB’s website will provide extensive “how-to” instructions.
Informed by the S3 Advisory consisting of administrative and academic SIS users and based on the modernization of the S3 Admin Console and SIO, the S3 team anticipates positive user adoption of the new registration functionality. We appreciate and value the adaptability and partnership of all SIS users across the Pittsburgh campus and beyond.
