Faculty Appointed to Study ARPA-E

ARPA-E

Professors Erica Fuchs and Jay Whitacre have been named to a National Research Council committee set to evaluate the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E).

ARPA-E is a federal agency established in 2009 to support energy technology projects by promoting revolutionary scientific advances, translating scientific discoveries and cutting-edge inventions into technological innovations, and accelerating transformational technological advances in areas that industry is not likely to undertake because of technical and financial uncertainty.

The committee will review and evaluate the progress that ARPA-E has made toward achieving its goals, and will develop a methodology and framework for an operational assessment as well as a retrospective and technical assessment of ARPA-E. The committee is expected to release its findings in January of 2017.
