Undergraduate Majors and Minors-Environment at CMU - Carnegie Mellon University

Undergraduate Majors and Minors

Our students address emerging global issues in a socially and environmentally responsible way.

While the major in Civil and Environmental Engineering is open only to Carnegie Institute of Technology students, any student may declare a second major in Environmental Policy. The second major in Environmental Policy and minor in Environmental Studies both are offered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Mellon College and Department of Chemical Engineering students may minor in Environmental Science.

Besides giving a deeper working knowledge of environmental issues, these minors can also help a student recognize and assess options about the ways they would like to be engaged in environmental issues in their future. These options also give them a background to keep learning about emerging environmental issues throughout their lives and make sound environmentally sustainable decisions as citizens, consumers, professionals and inhabitants of our planet.
