The Environment Across the Curriculum (EAC) Initiative

Environment Across the Curriculum, funded by the Steinbrenner Institute for Environmental Education and Research (SEER) in 2004-2005, invited faculty using or wishing to use environmental content in any course to come together and share ideas and material in meetings.

The vision for the Environmental Across the Curriculum (EAC) initiative is to enable our students to develop an environmental awareness by seeing environment as a part of diverse courses. The EAC project brought together faculty who were already including environmental themes in various, often very innovative, ways in their courses. Members of this core group were designated Steinbrenner Environmental Education Fellows. The Fellows representing a variety of disciplines shared their different perspectives on incorporating environmental concerns into the courses.

30 faculty members –outside the Luce course group – met three times a year to discuss and share course and pedagogical ideas, and explored how to teach for environmental literacy.
