Design at Carnegie Mellon
What’s cool about design? Designers can, and do change the world. Here at Carnegie Mellon’s School of Design, we educate tomorrow’s design leaders who will help shape a changing world. We balance the technological with the human, creating unique strengths that make our School of Design so successful.

Our Pre-College Program
In the Pre-College Design Program, we introduce you to new ways of seeing and thinking about the world in which you live—often challenging you in ways you never imagined. Our program offers individual and group experiences constructed to stimulate interest and build your skills in areas such as: drawing, form-making, design research methods, graphic
communications, photography, image-making and typography. You’ll have the opportunity to team up with other students or to develop your own projects. And throughout the program, you receive personal feedback on your work from your instructors and learn how to both provide and accept feedback from your fellow students. The diverse range of experiences allows you to explore design in its many aspects, and helps you to discover whether design at the university level will be right for you.
