Music and Technology Application Steps
Candidates for the Bachelor of Science in Music and Technology are required to complete these steps by December 1:
- Submit the Common Application, the Common Application Supplement, and all other required supporting materials to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
- On section IV of the Common Application Supplement, rank in your preferred order:
- The School of Music, and indicate one of three options
- Performance
- Composition
- Technology
- Either:
- Carnegie Institute of Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering
- School of Computer Science
- Complete the three-step registration process on the School of Music Website:
- Click on the “apply/audition” link, and enter the requested information.
- Pay your $50.00 portfolio review fee
- Schedule either an audition or a portfolio review based on your option:
- Performance Candidates: follow the prompts to select your studio and choose a date, time, and location from those listed
- Composition Candidates: select composition and schedule a portfolio review date from those listed, or opt to “audition by recording”
- Technology Candidates: select technology and choose a date and time for your portfolio review
- Send applicable audition recording or portfolio materials according to the specific instructions for your option:
- Performance Candidates: Refer to the performance application instructions and the audition requirements for your specific instrument or studio. A successful major level audition is required for Music and Technology applicants who choose the performance option.
- Composition Candidates: Refer to the composition portfolio requirements and instructions section of this booklet, and proceed as indicated
