Financial Aid & Scholarships
In order to obtain a promising financial aid package from the colleges you'll be applying to, it is very important that you, the student, take an active role in the financial aid process. In this session, we'll give you a time line for applying for financial aid. We'll also identify sources of assistance you may eligible for such as fee waivers, scholarships, loans and other funding.
Solving the Mystery of Majors
Have you ever watched the TV show CSI and thought that analyzing a crime scene or performing an autopsy was cool? But did you also wonder what college major or career path leads to a career in law, science, education, engineering, fine arts, computer science, etc.? This session will reveal some interesting career paths and their corresponding majors.
Prepare for College/Marketing Your Abilities
In order to be a strong applicant when applying to colleges, there are important criteria to follow. Strong applicants know what classes to take in high school, how to get help with SAT preparation and how to get quality teacher recommendations. There's a lot to pay attention to! We'll help you find the right path to college so that you'll stand out from the crowd.
What College Should I Apply To?
By this time there might be a few colleges that have peaked your interest. Perhaps your counselor, parents or friends have suggested some colleges to you. It's important to know if these schools have all the characteristics that are important to you. Here are some questions you should ask yourself:
- Do they have the major you are interested in?
- Are they in a city or a rural area?
- Do they have strong job placement support services?
- Do they have varsity or club sports?
We'll give you information on choosing a school based on your specific interests.
