Laser Safety Committee

A Laser Safety Committee was formed last year to address issues related to the safe use of laser equipment on campus.  We have met a number of times now and have been working on improving our processes of laser inspections, laser written procedures and general laser safe use.

If you have a laser in your lab, be aware that you have support for ensuring its safe use.  Please feel free to contact any of your user representatives on the committee with any questions or problems.  In the Mellon College of Science, the reps are Barry Luokkala (Physics), Fred Lanni (MBIC) and Rongchao Jin (Chemistry).  In the Carnegie Institute of Technology, the reps are Mohammad Islam (MSE) Jim Schneider (Chem Engineering) and Jim Bain and Andrew Gamble (both of ECE).
