Chemical Safety Training Refresher

Regular readers of this newsletter will know that in each month’s edition I have focused on part of the Lab Safety and Hazardous Waste training each of you had before you started working in your labs.  This served as a refresher of sorts to you for that class.  We at EH&S felt that a slightly more formalized refresher training would benefit our lab personnel and, with the concurrence of the Laboratory Safety Committee, this will start later this summer.  Michael Fouch, our Lab Auditor and Industrial Hygienist, has provided the following information on the upcoming refresher activity. MORE

Regulatory Review

This information is ESPECIALLY important for laboratory Principal Investigators.  The OSHA Laboratory Standard addresses worker exposures to hazardous chemicals in laboratories. It specifies that employers are required to do a number of things to ensure the safety of laboratory workers. MORE
