DEA Disposal Program

The US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) strictly controls the purchase, use, storage and disposal of materials considered dangerous drugs.  Many laboratories have these materials and it is critical that they obey the wide range of requirements for their use.

Just over a years ago, EH&S finalized an agreement with an outside firm to handle all DEA material disposals.  The agreement is a result of tightening of DEA requirements for the disposal.  Instead of an authorized destruction on-site, as we used to do, we are required to ship the materials off-site, with a strict license-to-license transfer. If you have DEA materials for disposal, please contact EH&S at 8-8182 for their handling.  We will assist you in this process.
