Dining at Carnegie Mellon-Dining Services - Carnegie Mellon University

Dining at Carnegie Mellon

Campus dining at Carnegie Mellon is about great food. It is also about creating community-oriented dining experiences for the entire university. The structure of dining at Carnegie Mellon is very unique because of the many different types of dining locations we have on campus. Many of our dining locations are managed by vendors with established reputations in the Pittsburgh region. Nutrition and Healthy Living

It is often difficult for students to get proper nutrition when facing all of the new responsibilities of college. Because of the variety of food options available on campus, Dining Services has been very successful in serving the needs of a campus population with diverse tastes and requirements for international cuisine, vegetarian and vegan diets and special food-related medical needs (see our Healthy Living resources for more details). By putting your student on a dining plan, you can be certain that they have access to the resources they need to have a healthy and varied diet. Not only does Dining Services give your student healthy food choices, but we are also creating a more sustainable dining program by purchasing food that is locally grown, organic and fair trade.

Value and Affordability

Our dining plans give students healthy options and flexibility along with affordability. Signing up for a dining plan will save you money: when your student uses their meal passes to purchase meals, they are receiving value. In addition, the DineXtra only plan gives you the extra bonus of 1% for every $100 you deposit into your student's DineXtra account up to 10%. By purchasing a dining plan, parents can also guarantee that the student will have money specifically budgeted for food.

Convenience and Community

Our dining locations are located right where our students live, study, work and hang out with friends. They also have very flexible hours so that even if your student is awake early in the morning or late at night, he or she will have options open around campus. Students are often too busy to get proper nutrition, but our dining locations make sure that students can get a great tasting, healthy meal without the hassle of preparation or clean-up.
