Bio

Rachel is currently an undergraduate at CMU majoring in Neuroscience with a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. She joined the Shinn-Cunningham lab due to her interest in the neural mechanisms related to hearing loss. She is curious as to how hearing loss affects the brain’s development, which ultimately impacts everyday life. Specifically, she is interested in the relationship between hearing loss and attention. Additionally, as a musician, Rachel is interested in how musical training affects the brain’s networking and abilities. On campus, Rachel is the historian for CMU's pre-health fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and an active member of Juntos, a volunteer organization that travels to underprivileged communities in the Dominican Republic.
