Dietrich College Selects 11 Honors Fellows

Two students from the Department of Modern Languages are among those who were recently named 2016–2017 Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences Honors Fellows. The Honors Fellowship Program was created to give students a head start on senior thesis projects.

Mary Catherine (Casey) Devine, a double major in Global Studies and French & Francophone Studies, is working on a project titled “French Nationalism and Unity Associated with La Loi Toubon.” Her adviser is Mame-Fatou Niang, assistant professor of French & Francophone Studies. Kayla Lee, a double major in Global Studies and Hispanic Studies, is working on a project titled “Understanding the Economic Self-Sufficiency of Adult Bhutanese-Nepali Refugees in Pittsburgh Through English Language Proficiency: Towards a Theory of Refugee Self-Sufficiency. Her adviser is Kenya Dworkin, associate professor of Hispanic Studies.
