Documentary filmmaker Steve James

Documentary filmmaker Steve James (Hoop Dreams, The Interrupters, Life Itself) will be speaking at both the Pittsburgh Humanities Festival and the Carnegie Mellon International Film Festival. On Saturday, March 25, 3:00-4:00 PM at the Humanities Festival, he will be interviewed about his newest film, Abacus: Small Enough to Jail in the Harris Theater on Liberty Ave. downtown. He will speak again after a screening of Abacus in McConomy Auditorium at 5:30 that same day as part of the film festival. Abacus tells the incredible saga of the Chinese immigrant Sung family, owners of Abacus Federal Savings of Chinatown, New York. Abacus will also be shown on Friday, March 24th at 6:00 PM at the Harris Theater. Admission is charged for both film screenings; a festival pass is required for the Humanities Festival event.
