Danielle Lehmann

M.A. Student, Professional Writing

Email: dnlehmann@cmu.edu

I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2016 with a Bachelors of Arts and Humanities in Creative Writing and Architecture. This foundation in writing and design will fuel my studies in science writing and publishing throughout the year. I am very conscious of the power a book has to inform, influence, and transform a reader and their view of the world. My passion for books, specifically science fiction and investigative journalism, has led me to science writing. I love learning about current research and translating it for others to understand. In a world submerged in technology and science, I know that being able to effectively communicate with readers of all different backgrounds is key to furthering conversations and fueling innovation. I love to communicate visually as well and I will continue to develop my representational skills as a Design Intern at Carnegie Mellon’s University Press. I’m thrilled to be continuing my education with Carnegie Mellon as my next stepping stone to a career in writing and visual design.

These academic experiences and related internships together contribute to my interest in earning a Master Degree in Professional Writing, with a focus on technical writing. In my spare time, I am also into volunteering, hosting and dancing.
