Admission to Enrollment-Academic Advisory Center (AAC) - Carnegie Mellon University

Applying to CMU/Dietrich College & Visiting Campus

The Office of Admission receives and reviews your application.  They are the office that can answer your questions about the admission process.  Throughout the year and especially during the month of April, the office schedules tours, information sessions, and class visits on campus.  Once you submit your application, you can track your progress through the admission process.

Dietrich College Freshmen Course Scheduling

  1. By mid-June, students will receive a welcome letter from the Dietrich College Academic Advisory with instructions for accessing a Blackboard course that contains all the information and tools students will need to plan their fall schedule.
  2. Beginning in mid-June, students should work through the college's Blackboard Course.  Additionally, students will begin scheduling one-on-one appointments with their academic advisor (in person, phone or Skype) to discuss their background, interests, and a general plan for a fall schedule.
  3. In late July, students will register for classes once they've received advisor approval.

Orientation

CMU Orientation is the week before the first day of classes for the fall semester.  During this week, you will meet with your Academic Advisor in a group session.  You can also request to meet individually with you advisor if any last minute scheduling issues arise.

First Day of Classes

By the first day of classes for the fall semester, you should be enrolled in a full schedule of classes.  Being enrolled also means that you have been "cleared" financially by the Enrollment Services office.
