Declare Your Major
One of the biggest decisions you will make during your four years here at Carnegie Mellon for your bachelor's degree is what you will major in. The choice to declare a major is one that you have some time to think about. All Dietrich College students enter into the university undeclared (an exception is the Information Systems major; first year students are admitted to the major through the Office of Admission). One of the benefits during your first year in Dietrich College is that you can explore and discover what you are really interested in. Your academic advisor will help your explore potential areas of interest.
The earliest you can declare your major is mid-semester of your second semester. Since most majors in Dietrich College are designed to be completed within two years, you have until mid-semester of your 4th semester to declare.
