We need your help to create the next century

This five-year fund-raising campaign will generate more than $350 million by November 15, 2000, the anniversary of the university's founding.

In just 100 years, Carnegie Mellon has risen to become one of the leading universities in this country—and the world.

Few others have come so far, so fast.

Yet, our achievements have been made despite a serious limitation. Although we are at the threshold of even greater achievement in the next century, we stand without the same financial foundation of our competitors. While Carnegie Mellon will continue to "do more with less," a stronger financial base will be required for us to deliver more completely on our promise for the future.

The campaign has focused on increasing Carnegie Mellon's endowment, which gives the university its long-term strength.

Campaign objectives are:

  • to INCREASE the number of endowed scholarships, fellowships, professorships and programs;
  • to ENABLE Carnegie Mellon to continue to make important contributions to society through its distinctive approach to education and research;
  • to SUPPORT major university building and renovation needs; and
  • to BOLSTER the level of annual giving, particularly to support general university programs and initiatives.
