Community Families-Cyert Center for Early Education - Carnegie Mellon University

Community Families

When placing your child on the wait list, please understand that openings for community families are rare. Carnegie Mellon affiliates receive preference and comprise the majority of our wait list. If a space occurs for a community family, it will most likely be in the PreK-Kindergarten room.

1. Download an application form and fill out as much information about your child as you currently know. You can update your information as it changes.

2. Send the application and non-refundable application fee of $50 to the Cyert Center for Early Education, 1060 Morewood Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, attn: Enrollment.

3. When your application is received, an email will be sent to you confirming your placement on the waiting list.

4. In February, faculty and staff families on the waiting list are invited to an Open House for a tour of the Center and to learn more about the program. An invitation will be extended to community families only if it looks as though we may make it through the faculty and staff waiting list first.

5. In April, an email is sent to families on the waiting list notifying them of their position (top, middle or bottom), the number of projected openings in your child's age group, and the date the enrollment process will begin.

6. Families are contacted by date of application and affiliation to Carnegie Mellon University to meet with the Director to tour the Center, receive an information packet, and begin the process for accepting or declining a space.

7. To accept the offered space, return contract and deposit.
