3. Lightspeed Venture Partners Summer Fellowship Applications Due - March 22, 2013

The Lightspeed family is here to help you succeed. Each team of 1 to 4 fellows is matched with 1 or 2 Lightspeed partners according to their interests. Of course, you should feel free to ask our other investment professionals for advice and guidance on whatever you may need.

Weekly speakers and angel investors are brought in to share their insights and offer further advice about the start-up experience. Many of these speakers have become advisors to teams. In addition, we’re always happy to put you in touch with anyone else who can help.

So you don’t have to worry about making ends meet or finding a place to work, each team receives $5,000, and each individual fellow receives $10,000 to cover living and business expenses, and all teams are given space in our Lightspeed office complex in Menlo Park, CA.


4. FOUNDER.org $100K Program at CMU, Application due March 31, 2013

FOUNDER.org is partnering with Carnegie Mellon University to provide funding and mentoring to students who are graduating and starting high impact companies. Carnegie Mellon students are eligible to apply for this $100K program. Founders accepted into the program receive:

  • a $100K funding grant,
  • mentoring by successful entrepreneurs,
  • mock monthly board meetings to review business progress,
  • training on recruiting and managing A-player talent,
  • a high impact team building program for the founding team,
  • education and instruction on intellectual property processes, 
  • help developing and measuring key performance metrics through analytics and
  • guidance raising additional funding.

5. Idea Foundry - Spring Accelerator Applications due April 10, 2013

The Idea Foundry is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications to the Spring 2013 Session of its InterSector Accelerator. The InterSector Accelerator Program is designed to support entrepreneurs in the social innovation sector, and is seeking applicants with ideas for for-profit businesses that will provide market-based solutions to some of our most pressing societal problems.

Qualified teams will provide ideas that are revenue-generating and that also demonstrate positive environmental and/or social impacts on our communities. InterSector is appropriate for companies who are just at idea stage, through those who are already piloting their products or services.

InterSector will award cash investments of up to $10,000 plus three months of business development assistance to capable teams of entrepreneurs who aim to make money while doing good. In addition, teams who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to be fast tracked to a $50,000 investment from Idea Foundry’s core program, the Idea Transformation Fellowship.

Applicants are invited to submit applications by April 10, 2013.
