National Academy of Sciences
Within the scientific and engineering community, election to NAS is a tremendous honor. The Academy recognizes the work of “distinguished scholars engaged in scientific and engineering research, dedicated to the furtherance of science and technology and to their use for the general welfare.” The NAS is one of four organizations that are collectively known as the National Academies—also included are the National Research Council, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine.
