National Academy of Engineering
The Academy’s mission “is to promote the technological welfare of the nation by marshalling the knowledge and insights of eminent members of the engineering profession.” As a member of the National Academies, NAE members are peer-elected and are among the best in their field. Numerous Carnegie Mellon faculty have been recognized by the Academy for projects ranging from “research in iron and steel making” to “contributions to the fundamental technology of artificial intelligence and its application to speech recognition, expert systems, and robotics.” Honorees include:
