Carnegie Mellon Statistics Professor Stephen E. Fienberg Receives American Statistical Association Award
Carnegie Mellon University's Stephen E. Fienberg, the Maurice Falk University Professor of Statistics and Social Science, has been named a recipient of the American Statistical Association's (ASA) 2009 Founders Award. ASA is the nation's largest professional statistical society and has a membership base that spans government, industry and academia.

Carnegie Mellon’s original campus design is said to have been modeled after a ship by the campus’s initial architect Henry Hornbostel. An actual ship's prow taken from the historic cruiser, the USS Pennsylvania, rests atop Roberts Hall, which overlooks Panther Hollow and the Carnegie Museum complex.
