Network, Phone & TV

The campus computing network, named “Andrew” for benefactors Andrew Carnegie and Andrew Mellon, links every residence hall and campus office via high-speed data connections. In 2001, Carnegie Mellon became the first university to offer a wireless network that encompassed all campus buildings and key outdoor areas.  Today, our network is comprised of more than 35,000 personal computers, workstations, and servers and more than 20,000 wireless connections. In 2005, the Princeton Review survey included Carnegie Mellon in their list of the twenty-five “Most Connected” campuses.

Computing Services Telecommunications provides the campus with a full range of basic and advanced telecommunications services including telephones, voicemail, conference calling and long distance services.  These services and associated fees are different for students and faculty/staff.

The CableTV service allows your cable-ready television set to receive over 90 channels of programming. Cable TV service is available in ALL Carnegie Mellon housing facilities and most main campus academic and administrative buildings.
