Software for New Affiliates

The university holds licenses for a number of software applications that can be downloaded at no charge. The essentials are listed below. Once you install these, review the complete list of software.

IMPORTANT: Some software applications must be installed before others. Perform the installations in the order listed below:

Anti-Virus Protection

• Symantec Endpoint Protection
• Malware (Windows only): Malwarebytes

Secure FTP

• SSH Tectia Client (Windows)
• Fetch (Mac OS X 10.6+)

Secure Telnet Clients

• Tectia Client (Windows)
• Terminal (native to Mac OS)

Web Email Clients

• Webmail (Cyrus email)
  No installation necessary; available at http://webmail.andrew.cmu.edu
• Outlook Web Access - OWA (Exchange email)
  No installation necessary; available at http://exchange.andrew.cmu.edu

Connecting

• Cisco AnyConnect VPN
  Securely connect from off-campus to restricted campus services.
  
• VMware View
  Using this software, you can access certain cluster software from anywhere.

Public "Andrew" Printing

• Software and Drivers
  Print to one of the many public printers in clusters, libraries and other locations on campus.
