How to Download Software

The University holds licenses for a number of software applications that can be downloaded at no charge. Most of these applications are available to students, faculty and staff members.

Download through the Software Pages

To download software through Computing Services web site, visit the Software for New Users or the All Software web page.

Download through the Portal

The Carnegie Mellon Web Portal displays only the software that is available to you based on your affiliation type. Follow these steps to download software from the Web Portal:

  1. Visit the Carnegie Mellon Web Portal's software download page.
  2. The WebISO Secure Login screen appears (to verify that you are a campus affiliate). Sign in with your UserID and password.

Note: If you haven't already downloaded the Carnegie Mellon CA Root Certificates, click the link on the WebISO screen to install them. Once the certificates are installed return to the WebISO Secure Login screen and enter your UserID and password. The Web Portal screen appears.
  3. Software downloads are listed on the My Accounts tab.

Note: Our campus software licenses do not include Sponsored Account holders, Pre-College, PA Governor School, SAMS and CMAP students. These groups are entitled to download the following packages ONLY: Kerberos for Windows, Kerberos for Macintosh, CA Root Certificates.
