Mathematica for Students Installation Instructions

Follow the installation instructions appropriate to your operating system.

Windows XP and Higher

1. Download the installer file to your computer.
2. Extract the zipped folder using Extract All under Windows XP (right click to reveal this option) or use WinZip if you have a version of Windows before XP.
3. Open the file named mathica6_student_license.doc, which contains detailed instructions for installing either the networked or standalone version of Mathematica.

MacOS 10.3.3 and Higher

NOTE: You cannot run the installer from the .dmg image. You must copy the directories from the Mathem_Stud_6.dmg file to the hard drive on which you want to install Mathematica, then run the installer from there.

1. Download the Mathem_Stud_6.dmg file to your hard drive.
2. Follow the on screen instructions. Drag the Mathematica logo to the hard drive on which you will install Mathematica.
3. After copying the files, read the essential (very important) installation information contained in the mathica6_student_license.doc.
4. Follow the directions presented by the installer using the information provided in the file .
