Installation Instructions

Install Mac OS X 10.8

Desktop Support customers
DSP customers should contact their DSP consultant at 412-268-6959 or dsp@andrew.cmu.edu before installing Mountain Lion.

Install Mountain Lion

  1. From the Apple menu, select Software Update and install any updates. Note: You may need an adminstrator name and password.
  2. Double-click the Mac_OS X10.8.zip file you downloaded to expand it (if necessary).
  3. Open the Mac_OSX10.8 folder and then double-click Install OS X Mountain Lion.app to launch the installer.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions. Note: You will need an administrator name and password.

Install iLife 11

iLife includes the following: iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, iWeb and iDVD.

  1. Double-click the iLife.zip file you downloaded to expand it (if necessary).
  2. Double-click the iLife11 folder and then iLife.pkg to launch the installer.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions. Note: You will need an administrator name and password.
  4. Once iLife is installed, drag the iLife11 folder to the Trash.
Note: iLife is not supported by the Computing Services Help Center. Visit Apple's iLife page or cmu.edu/lynda/ for help using the software.

Install iWork 09

iWork includes the following: Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

  1. Double-click the iWork.zip file you downloaded to expand it (if necessary).
  2. Double-click the iWork folder and then iWork.pkg to launch the installer.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions. Note: You will need an administrator name and password.
  4. Once the iWorks is installed, drag the iWork09 folder to the Trash.
