Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

Licensing

  • Desktop Support customers
    To acquire Lion, DSP customers should contact their DSP consultant at 412-268-6959 or via email to dsp@andrew.cmu.edu.
  • Administrative Departments with Apple Maintenance (Faculty and Staff)
    Faculty and staff members may acquire Lion through the Computing Services site license. The software can be installed only on university owned equipment and entitles you to perpetual software rights. The cost is $25 per seat. The software bundle contains Mac OS X 10.7, iLife and iWork. To obtain a seat, complete the Mac Lion Request Form.
  • All Others
    Individuals who are not covered by the campus site license (e.g., students) can download a copy of Lion from the Mac App Store.

System Requirements

To run Lion, your Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor. You will also need the latest version of Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6.8). To determine if you have one of these processors and OS X 10.6.8, click the Apple icon on your computer and then choose About This Mac. Note: Administrative Departments can acquire Snow Leopard as part of their upgrade purchase.
