Cisco VPN Client

The Cisco VPN client allows you to use the VPN service at Carnegie Mellon to establish end-to-end, encrypted network connections from remote locations to the campus network. With the VPN software running in the background, all RESTRICTED traffic is automatically routed using Advanced Encryption Standards (AES) or DES3 (triple Data Encryption Standard). Communication to off-campus sites or unrestricted campus services is routed directly through the public Internet (i.e., not tunneled through the VPN client).

IMPORTANT: This service requires registration for a certificate through NetReg. For detailed instructions, please see the Virtual Private Networking page.
