Empowering Research Through Coordinated Computing and Data Services

The Office of Research Computing and Data (RCD) is dedicated to advancing research capabilities across the institution. Our mission is to provide coordinated support for research computing and data, enabling faculty, staff, and students to focus on innovation and discovery.

We aim to foster a collaborative research environment by offering shared and centralized services accessible to the research community. RCD helps researchers tackle complex challenges and accelerate their work by streamlining access to powerful computing and data resources and expert support, guiding where to host computing and data resources, and supporting vendor interactions.

What We Offer

Our office offers a comprehensive range of shared services tailored to support the research community's varied needs. This includes assistance with the management and deployment of large-scale compute clusters.

The Google Cloud Cluster, branded ORCHARD, is an innovative, cloud-based computing resource created in collaboration with Google specifically for research projects. It offers high-performance computing tools, direct access to Google engineers, and robust AI and advanced computing capabilities to help us tackle today's challenges. This resource significantly boosts our cloud-based GPU capabilities. For details on the cluster hardware and configuration, see the FAQ.
