- Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2
- Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1
This update will be installed only on Windows computers that do not yet have the appropriate Microsoft Office Service Pack installed.
Details about this update:
- This update may take up to 20 minutes to install.
- These updates will be delivered in the same manner as the regular monthly Microsoft updates. You will receive a notification that updates are available, and you may choose to install them at your convenience.
- Once you select to install this update, you may continue to work. No applications will need to be closed during the installation. Your computer may need to be restarted after the installation, but you may choose to do so at your convenience.
- If you use a laptop that you carry with you to and from campus, you may want to install the update during your normal working hours, as it may take up to 20 minutes for the installation to complete. Choosing to install the update and shut down the computer at the end of the day may cause you to have to wait for up to 20 minutes before being able to take your computer and leave.
How do I find out if I'll receive this update?
To determine whether or not you will receive the service pack update, follow these steps:
For Office 2007 users:
In Outlook 2007, on the toolbar click Help menu, then click on About Microsoft Office Outlook. A new window will open containing information about the product. The first line of information should start with “Microsoft Office Outlook 2007” followed by a string of numbers, then the letters SP and a number. If your version reads as “SP2,” your computer already has the service pack installed, and you do not need to worry about this update. If your version reads as “SP1” or if no “SP” is listed, you will receive the update.
For Office 2010 users:
In Outlook 2010, click on File, then on Help. In the panel on the right side of the screen, you will see a heading for “About Microsoft Office.” Just below that will be a link for “Additional Version and Copyright Information.” Click on that link, and a new window will open, which will contain information about the product. The first line of information should start with “Microsoft Office Outlook 2010” followed by a string of numbers. If you see “SP1” in the first line of the product information, your machine already has the service pack installed, and you do not need to worry about this update. If there is no “SP” listed, you will receive the update.
