Support Statement for Windows 8

Desktop Support does not plan to support Windows 8 on laptops and desktops at this time. This operating system is not yet entirely compatible with the software used by DSP to manage and configure your computers. 

Computing Services has evaluated many of Windows 8's core software and services for compatibility. Some service and software limitations are listed on the Microsoft Windows Operating System page:

DSP will re-evaluate support for Windows 8 in early 2013 once improvements have been made to support computer management tools used by DSP, such as those used to configure computer security and permissions. Until then, new computers purchased with Windows 8 pre-installed will be "downgraded" to Windows 7.

In addition, DSP has not yet evaluated support for Windows 8 on mobiles or tablets until we can obtain a device for testing sometime in November.  We'll provide an update later this year.
