DSP Remote Installation of Firefox Web Browser for Windows Users

Due to the recent security vulnerabilities associated with Internet Explorer, DSP recommends that an alternate browser be used to access external (non-CMU) websites. Accordingly, DSP is remotely installing Mozilla Firefox to Windows computers beginning at 9pm on September 19, 2012.

Please note:
•    This update will occur whether or not a user is logged into a computer. The installation requires no action on your part and will not interrupt your work.
•    Computers that are shut off, or inaccessible (e.g. laptops at home, not on VPN) will receive the update after reconnecting to the campus network.
•    If you already have Mozilla Firefox installed, you will be updated to the most recent version, and your previous settings will not be affected.
•    If you have Favorites in Internet Explorer and would like to import them to Mozilla Firefox, please reference the following:  http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-bookmarks-internet-explorer

If you have any questions, or need assistance – please feel free to contact us at dsp@andrew.cmu.edu or (412) 268-6959.
