Standards and Specifications

Carnegie Mellon University's Cabling Specifications and Standards can be found in the Division 16700 [PDF} document.  This document references the following detailed drawings: UTP Workstation (WS-1) and Commuincations Rooms (CL-1). 

To achieve uniform communications cabling system within all buildings throughout the campus, the university is in the process of replacing any remaining IBM Cabling System with Category 5E cabling (in some cases Category 6). This process is being done through both new construction and renovations. The IBM cabling is no longer being installed or relocated.
