PPMO Project Templates - Planning and Project Management Office - Carnegie Mellon University

PPMO Project Templates

The following templates are used after a project has gone through the Ongoing Project Request Submission Process and is ready to be staffed.

All of these templates are in Microsoft Project format and can be uploaded to Team Dynamix during the staffing phase.

L2 = Level 2 templates are designed to be easy for new Project Leads who are less familiar with project management methodology. L2 can also be used for smaller projects.

L5 = Level 5 templates are designed for Project Leads who are more familiar with project management methodology. L5 should be used for complex projects.

Please contact the PPMO for assistance in doing so.

To choose a template you wish to use as a basis for building your project plan, save the desired template to your desktop in .XML format.

To import a template into Team Dynamix:

  1. Click on the TD Applications button, then choose Projects.
  2. Select the Project folder, then click Plans and then Create Plan.
  3. Enter the Plan Name and a Description.
  4. Do you want to upload a project file for this plan? Select Microsoft Project.
  5. Do you want to check this plan out now? Select Yes if you intend to work on the plan upon import.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Click Browse to select the location where you saved the .XML file.
  8. Once you have selected the file, click Import.
